Station Cottage Accommodation details

Self catering holiday cottage with 3 bedrooms

Station Cottage has the feel of a traditional cottage but with modern conveniences and is very well equipped. It has a large front garden and a back garden with summerhouse.  The back gate leads on to the open headland.

Living Accommodation

The kitchen is well equipped and can equally accommodate cooking a roast dinner for 6 people or just microwaving a quick supper. It has a ceramic hob, double oven, dishwasher, microwave oven, hand blender, electric whisk and coffee maker. There is a good range of utensils, pans and crockery, as well as coolboxes, tupperware and a thermos flask for picnics. There is a large fridge (in the conservatory dining room) with a good sized freezer section.

The kitchen window is a great place to watch the numerous birds - some quite rare - which visit the garden - especially if you feed them!

Just off the kitchen there is a conservatory dining room with a dining table and chairs to seat 6 people.

The sitting-room has an open fire (coal is provided) with a TV, DVD player and DVDs, a phone for incoming calls and free unlimited broadband.  There are books for adults and children, games, maps and guidebooks.

There is a small utility room in the hall which has a washing machine.

There is space in the front porch to put on and take off outdoor gear.

Bedrooms and Bathroom

Cottage bathroomThere are 3 bedrooms.  They are quite small but comfortable and all bedding is provided – hollowfibre pillows and duvets and good quality plain white cotton bedlinen.  There are hairdryers in the double bedrooms.

Upstairs there is a double room (the red bedroom) with a standard double bed, chest of drawers and views over Duirinish village and Applecross.

Also upstairs is a bunk room with 3’ wide adult length bunks, a small wardrobe and chest of drawers and views over Skye.

Downstairs there is another double room (the blue bedroom) with standard double bed and a wardrobe.

There is an upstairs bathroom with bath, separate shower, washbasin and toilet.  Downstairs there is another toilet with wash hand basin.

Outside

There is a summerhouse in the back garden which has heat-retaining glass and a comfy day-bed, which makes a lovely place to relax with a drink in the evening and watch the sun set over Skye.  It also has a table tennis table and toys to entertain kids on wet days.  There are 2 clothes horses and it provides an excellent drying room.  There is a small portable barbecue.

The garden is fenced all around, so young children and dogs are safe and are protected from the train line or wandering out into the surrounding fields

Heating

The fire in the sitting room heats radiators in the sitting room and downstairs bedroom and there is an electric storage heater in the hall which sends heat upstairs to the bedrooms.  There are additional portable electric heaters in the bedrooms for an extra burst of heat on cold days.
