Getting here

By car:

From Glasgow and Edinburgh the drive to Duirinish takes just over 4 hours.  It may be possible to cut some of the time off your journey by driving to Mallaig and then getting the ferry to Armadale on Skye, then driving over the Skye Bridge back to the mainland and to Duirinish.

SatNavs will take you to the village of Duirinish.  From Duirinish village you will need to take the little road marked 'Station' and 'Port an Eorna'  This road has the appearance of belonging to the farm, but is in fact a public right of way and anyone is fully entitled to use it.  Parking at the end of the road by the station is absolutely fine.

By train:

The cottage is right next to Duirinish Station on the Kyle of Lochalsh line. The line goes from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh. Duirinish is a request stop - you will need to tell the driver when you board that you would like to get off at Duirinish and he will stop for you.

One option to get to the cottage from London and the south is the sleeper train from Euston.  This will get you to Inverness in the early morning, and you can then get a train to Kyle of Lochalsh and stop at Duirinish, right next to the garden gate.

By plane:

One of the easiest ways to get here is to fly to Inverness and hire a car.  The drive from Inverness to the cottage takes just under 2 hours and is very scenic.  There are 2 main routes you can take - via Drumnadrochit and Loch Ness or via Garve and Strathcarron - both are clear roads with beautiful views.

By coach:

It is possible to get a coach from Victoria Station in London which will take you to Glasgow.  From Glasgow it is possible to get a coach to Kyle of Lochalsh and then get the train or a taxi the final 3 miles to Duirinish.
